Located centrally between Dover and the Lewes/Rehoboth beach areas, Milford offers convenience with a strong community in itself. "River Town, Art Town, Home Town" , as the logo for Milford embodies what this treasure really has to offer. Taking a stroll down the "Riverwalk" that runs along the Mispillion River in town you will come to the Riverwalk Theatre home to the Second Street Players, the Downtown Milford business area with unique shops like Coolspring Cottage, Dolce' Bakery, Good News Grocery, EcoChic, Bloomings Boutique, and The Ladybug Shop. You will also find a variety of art galleries including the Mispillion Art League, Angelucci Studios & Galleries, Gallery 37, and Anne Jenkins, just to name a few. A beautiful new public library sits right on the water with large and very interactive children's library on the first floor. Of course, good food is a necessity in any town and Milford has it's share, Abbott's Grill, Georgia House Restaurant, and Arena's are all located right in town close to the river.
The non-profit groups like Downtown Milford, Inc. and the Greater Milford Chamber of Commerce work hard to provide festivals and events that keep the community fun and exciting year round. The largest festival, "The Riverwalk Freedom Festival", is held on the weekend after Labor Day. It is a three day event kicking off with a 5K run, then a free concert, boat parade, and fireworks on Friday, and a day full of fun on Saturday with something for everybody. Milford also has the Bug and Bud Festival, the Holiday Stroll, Eat in the Street, Fall Harvest Parade, and a large Farmer's Market that runs from May to October.
Haven and Silver Lakes along with Griffiths and Blair's Ponds and the Mispillion River offer opportunity for waterfront living whether in town or out. Many of the homes in town have been renovated and restored to original condition providing a show as you drive down streets like Lakeview Avenue, S. Walnut Street, and Front Street, giving you a glimpse of the history that lies within this town. If country living is more your style than it's only a hop skip and a jump from town. You can find lots as small as one acre or as large as a farm without having to drive too far out from grocers and other businesses.
You will also find a variety of styles in architecture in Milford. New construction, older homes that have been renovated, or a project for yourself to make your own, are all available.
